In 2021, there were 185 motorcycle fatalities in Georgia. Motorcyclists are 28 times more likely to die in an accident than vehicle drivers.

There are also common traffic scenarios that exacerbate the likelihood of motorcycle fatalities. Left-turning cars, lane-switching incidents, head-on collisions, and cars rear-ending motorcycles are among the prevalent causes of fatal accidents.
The state of Georgia recognizes the increased likelihood of a motorcycle accident being fatal. The Georgia Department of Driver Services Motorcycle Safety Program has received a grant that will be used to decrease motorcycle fatalities and increase driver awareness.
Motorcyclists should always wear a DOH-approved helmet, visible riding gear, gloves, long pants, and boots. Vehicle drivers must always look twice and check their blind spots for motorcycles before turning or changing lanes.
